Sadly on close examination, this vest does not have a double-ended zip. This rules it out for the likes of me who have hips disproportionally larger than their top half. Otherwise it seems just what I want. Wearing it unzipped would somewhat solve the size problem, but defeats the object of a warm outer vest to keep out the chill.
